Empowering the Future: Three Years of the PATHWAY Project and its Impact on the Filipino Youthโs Employability and Entrepreneurship

The Philippines has a vibrant youth population and produces a considerable number of college graduates every year, however, many graduates struggle to find employment that match their skills or establish their own business. Launched in 2021, the Promoting the EmployAbility and enTrepreneurship of Higher education graduates through innovative WAYs (PATHWAY) project aimed to address this challenge. The following presents the project's three-year journey and its impact on its project partnersโ students, faculty and staff; and the overall landscape of employability and entrepreneurship in the Philippines.

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) was represented by Ms. Sophia Ordona, Associate Director for Government and International Affairs, and Ms. Katrina Baligod, Manager for Industry and Government Affairs, at the PATHWAY project management meeting. Held at the Pangasinan State University - Golden Lion Hotel, this meeting facilitated updates from project partners regarding various work packages.

As one of partner-HEIs in the Philippines, SPUP took an active role in the realization of the said international collaborative undertaking as the lead taskforce on Quality Assurance. Dr. Jeremy Godofredo Morales (Director, Internationalization), Dr. Juan Rivera (Director, Human Resource), Dr. Teresita Lasam (Director, Student Affairs and Services), Dr. Allan Peejay Lappay (Director, Alumni, External Relations and Advocacies) and Mr. Ian Jaylord Beran (In-Charge, Career and Placement) composed the delegation of the University.
Pathway project concludes through a National Conference

The project Promoting the employAbility and enTrepreneurship of Higher Education graduates through innovative WAYs in the Philippines (PATHWAY) has concluded with a National Conference held on April 3-4, 2024 at the Golden Lion Hotel of Pangasinan State University.
BSU Pathway project members spearhead student entrepreneurship activities

Pathway project members from Benguet State University actively facilitated student activities on entrepreneurship and employment. The most recent one is the Hotel and Restaurant Tourism Week held on November 13 and 14, 2023. The event, coordinated by Pathway project member Amelia G. Bawang, was organized by Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management 4th Year students for the 3rd year students. The event theme is โElevate, Explore, Empower: Unleashing Business Visionaries This will pave the way to Promote Employability and Entrepreneurship, the Philippine Way to our future graduates.โ
