Last October 14, 2022, the PATHWAY National Event, World of Work Café with the theme  “Pathways to Employability and Entrepreneurship in the New Normal” was held at Dusit Thani Manila.

Organized by the ECCP together with the PATHWAY Project (Pathway2employability) and co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, the event brought together key speakers and important stakeholders from the academe and private and public sectors to highlight the opportunities for higher education graduates to improve their employability and entrepreneurial skills. This became a symbolic gathering of people from the business, education and government sectors who shared the Pathway goal of enhancing the entrepreneurship and employability culture of Philippine HEIs to meet labour market needs and government reforms.

Moreover, discussions centered on challenges stemming from the pandemic and ways to move forward through policy reforms and areas of collaboration were also highlighted.

The World of Work Café, a Pathway National Event, became a symbolic gathering of people from the business, education and government sectors who shared the Pathway goal of enhancing the entrepreneurship and employability culture of Philippine HEIs to meet labour market needs and government reforms.

Representatives from companies, DOLE, CHED, the European Union Delegation in the Philippines, the Senate Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education and the House Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education committed their support to the development of employability and entrepreneurship in the country. 

“This has been a highly productive insightful event. It has certainly been encouraging to hear the affirmative statements from our speakers and stakeholders. The environment we are operating is not without challenges and also students need a solid academic and theoretical foundation to be able to succeed in the real world but we are confident that with the partners here, we can overcome them and achieve shared goal of increasing higher education’s employability and entrepreneurship,” said Helen Grace Baisa of ECCP.
